Sermorelin is a biologically active variant of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), produced in the human brain to encourage the pituitary gland to generate and release growth hormone. It stimulates the body's natural production of HGH. This substance is a truncated form of growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF 1-44), naturally synthesized by the brain to promote the pituitary's production and release of HGH. In youth, adequate amounts of GHRH are produced, enabling the pituitary gland to supply enough growth hormone to maintain health, vitality, and typical functional aspects. However, with age, GHRH levels decline, leading to decreased production and secretion of pituitary HGH and exacerbating the consequences of growth hormone deficiency.
In contrast to HGH, Sermorelin targets a more fundamental source of dysfunction within the GH neuroendocrine axis, exhibits greater physiological activity, has an improved safety profile, and is not subject to restrictions when used for adult hormone deficiency. While Sermorelin yields comparable effects on body composition and delivers the various benefits associated with HGH, it also provides several additional and significant advantages. The action of Sermorelin is modulated at the pituitary gland level by negative feedback and somatostatin release, thereby minimizing or completely eliminating the safety risks related to HGH overdose. The release of HGH from the pituitary, stimulated by Sermorelin, occurs episodically rather than in a continuous “square wave” pattern, which helps prevent tachyphylaxis by mimicking normal physiological processes. By activating the pituitary gland, it helps preserve more of the growth hormone neuroendocrine axis, which is the first to deteriorate with aging.
